Under-eye injection softens the border between the under-eye bulge and the hollow beneath it. When fat protrudes and the area beneath sinks, a shadow falls between the two planes, and this fills that border so the surfaces run into each other. Unlike the surgery of the same name, it uses a blunt-tipped cannula.

It takes one to two sessions. Swelling lasts two to four weeks and the final result lands over one to two months, because skin under the eye is thin and what was placed needs time to settle. While swelling remains it can look overdone, so it is better not to judge then.

The material and method differ by clinic, so it is worth confirming what goes in and at which layer. The name "fat repositioning" originally refers to surgery that moves fat through a small conjunctival incision, so it is easy to assume from the name that they are the same. If the fat protrudes markedly, surgery may suit better.
