Collagen forms around the threads as they dissolve, so the shape usually holds six to twelve months. The threads’ own support fades first, but the new collagen remains and carries the shape. With repeat sessions collagen accumulates and the duration stretches a little each time.

It is done under local anaesthetic, so pain during the session is limited. Swelling lasts about a week. Blowing or pressing the nose hard during that time can disturb the column that was built, so take care, and glasses press on the bridge and can alter the shape, so adjust wear for a few days.

The threads go into a deep layer along the centre of the bridge, so they are usually not palpable. With very thin skin they can be faintly noticeable at first, but this goes as they dissolve. Rather than filling volume like filler, it builds a vertical column, so there is less of a widening look.
