Small, shallow moles are dealt with in one go. The final result appears two to four weeks later once the scab comes off, because new skin takes that long to form. Deep moles are removed across several sessions, since taking it all in one pass can leave a larger scar.

Shaving thin layers precisely keeps scarring to a minimum, but deep moles can leave a mark, because a deep root has to be removed to that depth and a deeply cut site does not heal perfectly flat. Not picking the scab and keeping the area out of the sun matter most in reducing the mark.

Downtime of five to ten days is needed. A scab forms and falls off during that time, and leaving it alone lets new skin grow fully underneath so less of a mark remains. Newly healed skin is especially vulnerable to UV and pigments easily, so keep up sun protection for a few months even after the scab is gone.
