It is given only as needed when inflammation flares. It settles visibly within twenty-four to forty-eight hours, so it is used when you are in a hurry rather than as scheduled care. The longer a spot stays swollen the higher the scarring risk, so the aim is to shorten that time.

With enough spacing it is fine, but repeating the same spot at short intervals can thin the skin or leave discolouration. The drug reduces surrounding tissue as well as the inflammation. So rather than concentrating doses on one spot, it is spread out with a few weeks between and the amount kept small.
